1. Doctor seemed "impatient" when I was asking him advice if I should take a supplement that was recommended to me. 2. I'm not sure he received the "full spectrum" of my symptoms before making his recommendations.

I graduated with honors from Jefferson Medical College and completed a medical student pathology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, both in Philadelphia. I moved west for an internal medicine residency at the University of Washington, in Seattle, and specialty fellowships in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). During my fellowships, I earned a master’s degree in public health (epidemiology and biostatistics). I was a primary faculty member at OHSU for four years before joining Kaiser Permanente, and I remain an affiliate faculty member in the OHSU Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology. I am board certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and transplant hepatology.

About my practice

I am a general and transplant hepatologist who cares for patients with all forms of liver disease, including liver cancer, viral hepatitis, autoimmune liver disease, and cirrhosis before and after liver transplantation. I also perform clinical outcomes research focusing on hepatocellular carcinoma, cirrhosis, and allocation of organs for transplantation.

How I thrive

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading fiction, and cycling, skiing, and hiking the Pacific Northwest.
