About Reviews

No comments available. ?

I grew up in Oregon and studied molecular biology and organic chemistry at the University of Oregon, then attended medical school at Oregon Health & Science University and completed my specialty training in pediatrics at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford University. I was thrilled to return to the Northwest to join Kaiser Permanente.

About my practice

My focus is academic pediatric hospital medicine. I strive to provide high-quality, compassionate care to our hospitalized children at Doernbecher Children's Hospital. I am a passionate advocate of public health measures, particularly in the area of preventable infectious disease, including access to health care and vaccinations. On the wards, I am privileged to teach and guide doctors-in-training and medical students. I very much enjoy not only discussing cutting-edge health care but also promoting compassionate and family-centered care to a new generation of physicians and allied health providers. I care for newborns at our Kaiser Permanente hospitals, offering well newborn care, special nursery care, and neonatal resuscitations, and have spent a significant amount of time in child-abuse evaluation and intervention as well.

How I thrive

I was trained in jazz and classical music and continue to perform occasionally in Portland--including in an all-physician rock band! Exercise is a priority--I tap dance, and running and hiking our neighborhood trails are also favorite pastimes. Spending time with family and friends, cooking healthy meals, and reading to relax are some of my favorite activities. I also enjoy volunteering as a physician to provide health care to uninsured, underserved children. For years, I have traveled to countries such as Guatemala and Mexico to provide health care to indigenous populations, and I enjoy speaking Spanish whenever I have a chance.
