Born in Colorado and raised on outdoor adventure, my wife and I are very happy in the Pacific Northwest. I found my path to emergency medicine after training as an EMT. The teamwork required to provide the needed care to the sickest patients under stressful conditions in an emergency medicine setting is inspiring to me, and I wouldn't want to work anywhere else. I am excited to join Kaiser Permanente to collaborate with an even larger team of primary care providers and specialists, to be a part of the whole care process of our patients.
About my practice
Working in the Emergency Department is stressful but rewarding. That said, I know that it is even more stressful for the patients than the providers, and I relish the opportunity to help my patients navigate their often frightening and confusing experience. It would be impossible for me alone to treat emergent life-threatening conditions, reassure concerned loved ones, and make tough choices with very little time or background information. With our team of dedicated providers, nurses, techs, and various other vital staff members, however, the opportunity to help is tremendous and impresses me daily. I am honored to work alongside such dedicated caregivers.
How I thrive
I thrive by finding the positives in life and work. I try never to pass up the opportunity to get outside and hike with my wife and dogs or take a trip to the mountains or the coast with friends. I have fallen in love with the culture, food, and activities in and around Portland and am excited to explore as much as I can.
