I grew up in Arizona and since the age of 10, knew that I wanted to be a physician. The type of physician changed from time to time, but by college I knew that I wanted to work with children. I stayed in Arizona to attend undergraduate and medical school before escaping to the green and rainy city of Portland for residency. My husband and two cats joined me in my adventures. We have grown to appreciate Portland's quirky attitude and have taken advantage of its many outdoor opportunities. We also added a little girl to our family.
About my practice
As a general pediatrician, I enjoy working closely with children and their families and am family-centric in my approach to member care. As a physician, I know about expected growth and development and about illness and disease, but I do not know exactly what it means to be living as or with each patient, and that is important information for decision-making. My areas of interest are broad, but I am particularly interested in early literacy and childhood obesity.
How I thrive
I am energized by spending time with my family and friends, being outdoors, reading, and by undertaking creative activities such as scrapbooking and photography. I feel particularly blessed to have such an amazing landscape to explore--camping, fishing, and hiking--especially now that we have added to our family. I also love organization and am always looking for new ways to be organized!
