Born and raised in Kentucky, I attended college and medical school in the Bluegrass State, before moving to the Pacific Northwest in 2010 for residency training at Oregon Health & Science University. I proposed to my wonderful wife while at Stanford University, where I completed my specialty training in surgical pathology and hematopathology. I decided to pursue medicine in college, and have never regretted the decision. I love the challenge of my chosen field and am continually inspired by the passion and commitment of my colleagues to patient care.

About my practice

My specific area of expertise is in hematopathology, but while I enjoy examining and diagnosing entities related to bone marrow, I find anatomic pathology in general to be fascinating in all regards. I'm fortunate to be surrounded by inspired colleagues who are willing to share their expertise. I predominately work behind the scenes, without direct interaction with my patients; however, with each case I consider the clinical impact of the diagnosis and work closely with clinicians to provide the best next steps in care.

How I thrive

I love spending time with my wife and two dogs, taking in all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer, including hiking, biking, running, and surfing. Sailing has long been a passion of mine, and I look forward to getting out on the water whenever possible. As the son of a high school English teacher, I often have a book in hand — I enjoy the peace of mind and relaxation that comes with a great novel. Otherwise, I am an unabashed homebody; I love to spend my time cooking and getting involved in a myriad of projects.
