About Reviews

No comments available. ?

Growing up as the son of two physicians in Indianapolis, Indiana, I knew from a very early age that I wanted to be a physician. Beyond this (and a dream of going to the Olympics as a middle distance runner), I never really had anything else that I contemplated pursuing. Since my arrival in Portland, Oregon, my time outside of medicine has been spent largely with my wife and two young sons. During my time away from the hospital, I enjoy listening to music with my family, making waffles for my wife and sons, and doing anything that could be categorized as exercise.

About my practice

I find the ICU to be a very rewarding place to practice medicine. The challenges posed by patients with severe illness have made it quite easy for me to come to work every day with a great deal of excitement. I have the great fortune of working with ICU nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, nutritionists, and social workers who combine their skills to provide excellent patient care. It is difficult for me to imagine working at any other job.

How I thrive

I thrive by trying to challenge myself every day. The older I get, the more I realize how my imperfections provide me with a daily opportunity for improvement. At times, this means finding ways to further my knowledge within health and medicine. At other times, it means attempting to learn how I can be a more patient teacher for my children. Often times, I find myself embarking on physical challenges in an attempt to regain the conditioning and athleticism I possessed as a younger man. Regardless, I always find that the challenges are not far away if I simply look.
