My favorite subjects in school were chemistry, physics, and biology. After finishing high school, there was no doubt left in regards of which professional path I would choose. In 1989 I was accepted to Tbilisi State Medical University, located in Georgia, and I received my medical degree in 1995. Because of my interest in physics and chemistry, physiology became my favorite subject. Cardiac and pulmonary systems were the fields of my interest and after the graduation I completed one year of internship in Institute of Cardiology, Tbilisi, Georgia. After passing USMLE exams, I completed a two month externship in Grady Hospital of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Later that year, I started an internal medicine residency in Huron Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Health System, Ohio. Upon graduation, I was offered a position as assistant chief resident. In 2003, I joined an internal medicine practice in Longview, WA, which combined care in both the outpatient and hospital settings. Since 2009 I am practicing as a Hospitalist for Kaiser Permanente.

About my practice

At St. John's Medical Center, we a have very professional, dedicated and friendly group of hospitalists, who are constantly striving to provide high quality of medical care. I am very glad to work in such a collegial environment. The staff at St. John's Medical Center is very friendly and supportive. While at St. John's, patients get the best care possible, and their follow-up is coordinated with primary care physicians and Kaiser Permanente specialty groups while they are still in the hospital. Thus, a clear plan for further management is established during the course of hospitalization. We take personal communication with patients' family members very seriously, and hold frequent conferences with them. In this way, both families and patients get a clear understanding of their treatment plan and actively participate in the process of healing.

How I thrive

Exercise has been the mainstay of my personal life. Physical activities are a source of well-being and energy for me. I enjoy history, art, and political science. I also study enology, which is the art of wine and winemaking, and spend some time in the vineyard every year pursuing this passion.
