A native of Texas, I lived on both coasts and abroad, studied comparative religion, and taught math prior to entering the medical field. I have been guided by the Golden Rule throughout my life which, along with my love of science, led me to medicine. Although I have numerous hobbies, particularly outdoor activities, reading, and meditation, I value spending time with my wife and children over all.
About my practice
I believe in treating each patient as I would treat my family. I bring a compassionate approach to my practice, which I believe is both art and a science. I am a diagnostic radiologist with fellowship training in breast imaging. My background in teaching had a lasting impact on the way I practice medicine and I emphasize communication and education with patients and colleagues. I appreciate the Kaiser Permanente approach to health care and share the belief that high quality, patient centered-care offers the most rewarding future for patients and providers.
How I thrive
I believe that the relationship between mind and body provides the foundation for human experience, manifested in actions as basic but elegant as breathing. I discovered mindfulness through meditation during my college years and have sought to practice "living in the moment" ever since. Activities like hiking, gardening and playing with my children help me bring these concepts to life.
