I was drawn to medicine by my mother's and father's experiences in the medical field. I grew up in Fremont, Ohio; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and McAllen, Texas before college and medical training in Houston, Texas. My wife and I moved to Corvallis, Oregon in 2003 and have never regretted it. I practiced for twelve years in Corvallis before joining Kaiser Permanente.
About my practice
I have a particular interest in patients with diabetes and obesity. I often recommend a relatively-low carbohydrate or Mediterranean diet. I greatly enjoy caring for geriatric patients and helping them maximize their abilities. I have expertise with patients facing complex choices and managing symptoms near the end of life. I received my board certification in hospice and palliative care and have worked with Benton Hospice Service for several years. You don't have to be sick to see me though; I enjoy keeping patients healthy!
How I thrive
My wife and two boys enjoy low-stress vacations but we hope to travel more adventurously as the boys get older. I enjoy novels, '90s college radio music, and am a technology geek. I volunteer at a free clinic in Corvallis: Community Outreach Incorporated.
