Why Oregon? Northwest is green on all maps of the USA. Since quite young, I wondered what was beneath all that green. After living in remote Alaska for several years, then the East coast, and then Zimbabwe for three years, returning to the "green land" was a natural next chapter. I have lived here now for 15 years. It is home and, I think, one of a very few perfect places to live in this country. Why Medicine? Like music, the practice of medicine is a universal language. Through medicine, I have the honor of contributing hope, understanding, and at times healing to people everywhere.

About my practice

I care for persons in the Kaiser Permanente Sunnyside Medical Center (medical/surgical hospital, emergency department, and the Brookside Center behavioral health residential unit) who have urgent or emergency needs that are typically referred to as behavioral, psychiatric, or mental disorders. These disorders may be due to some primary brain problem, a psychosocial circumstance, a physical or emotional trauma, or the effects of specific medical or genetic disorders. In all cases, I understand that my compassion and kindness are essential elements for any healing process.

How I thrive

Staying active is simply enjoyable and good for my spirit, body, and mind. Look for me outside: Cycle Oregon, half marathons, or tennis at any time. Or, find me inside: yoga, music, cooking. Travelling is enlightening (you-tube is not the same as "being there"). My children keep me focused on today and the future. I strive to be purposefully and fully involved in what I am doing at any moment. And my disaster response work allows me to be part of a community effort that connects me with everyone.
