I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. I went to college in Chicago, attended medical school in Philadelphia, and then moved west to complete my residency in family medicine at Oregon Health & Science University. I live in Northeast Portland with my husband (a graphic designer, photographer, and painter), our two children, and two cats. As a family, we enjoy biking together and camping all over the region, from Crater Lake to the Wallowas.
About my practice
After working as a health outreach worker with migrant farm workers in North Carolina and Florida, I was inspired to pursue my career, and I have been a family medicine doctor for the past 17 years. My goal as a primary care physician is to listen and be present with my patients; to address their medical needs — from urgent, acute illnesses to complex chronic disease management — with compassion; to promote wellness and prevention; and to educate and empower patients to be partners in their own health care. I believe in treating the whole person. I also love getting to know and care for extended families. I speak both English and Spanish.
How I thrive
Reading, traveling, and spending time with close family and friends helps me to rejuvenate.
