From a family of musicians, I was the strange kid who rebelled by going into the sciences, and from a young age I knew I wanted to pursue medicine. Originally from El Paso, Texas, I grew up on the border and finished school in Lubbock. Afterward, I came to Oregon with my wife for training. My family and I love Oregon and all it has to offer, especially the food in Portland. I enjoy being outdoors with our children and playing golf when I can.
About my practice
I practice Hospital Medicine and enjoy the chance to address acute issues that arise in hospitalized members. Transitions of care are especially important to me, and I focus on reducing errors through frequent and thorough communication. I have an interest in informatics, especially electronic health records and the growing use of the bedside ultrasound by Internal Medicine physicians.
How I thrive
My family is my focus and helps me to live life to the fullest. I have two young children who take up a lot of time and energy but who also help me recharge during times of stress or fatigue. My wife and I also enjoy working on our own "Portland Food Tour:
