I am a native New Yorker with a life-long interest in being a physician. I attended medical school in upstate New York, where I realized the emotional and psychological needs of patients facing challenging illnesses and became interested in Psychiatry. I completed my residency at the University of Pennsylvania, and spent over twenty years practicing psychiatry in Philadelphia and North Delaware. I have earned awards for speaking to the public about mental health topics, educating medical and nursing students, and training residents.
About my practice
I believe in helping members formulate and achieve their goals for health and recovery by educating them in the broad range of available treatments to meet their individual needs. I feel there is no single way to approach someone's needs. Psychiatry and medicine are a collaboration between the member and psychiatrist. I work with members struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, HIV, sexuality and gender issues, substance use, medical illnesses, and complicating emotional disorders. I am excited to work with Kaiser Permanente for the opportunity to collaborate with kind, skilled, caring professionals across a system designed to do everything possible to improve patients' well-being.
How I thrive
I start my day by taking my dogs out for a walk, reading, and enjoying my morning coffee. I love reading, travel, hiking, enjoying diverse foods, music, watching my children grow into adults, and meeting new people.
