I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. After earning my undergraduate degree at Harvard College and my medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania, I moved on to an OB/GYN residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and a Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship at UCSF. In 1996 I moved to Portland, Oregon and have enjoyed working at Kaiser Permanente ever since.
About my practice
Since my second year of medical school, I knew I wanted to go into perinatology. I enjoy the mix of practice and skills that are required in this field: ultrasound, surgery, medical problem-solving, inpatient care, fetal monitoring, genetic counseling, and on and on. No two days are ever the same. I like that, with few exceptions, the culmination of all this work is the birth of a healthy new baby (and in some cases several!).
How I thrive
My hobbies include photography, cooking, wine (for its health benefits, of course), exercising on the elliptical, reading, and playing with our two dogs. I love to travel to faraway places with my wife and our two amazing children.
