I was born in California but raised in Arizona. I graduated from medical school at the University of Arizona and then completed my residency in emergency medicine in Michigan. After residency, I spent more than four years helping to create a functioning Emergency Department on a reservation in Arizona. Next, I moved to Singapore with my significant other and spent a lot of time traveling through Southeast Asia and New Zealand. I'm a big fan of getting out and experiencing different places and meeting new people. After we returned to the United States, I completed a fellowship in ultrasound, then moved to Oregon to continue working in medicine and teaching other providers ultrasonography. I am very happy to be in Portland as part of the Kaiser Permanente team.
About my practice
Every person is unique. When members arrive at the Emergency Care Department, they need personalized evaluations, assessments, and plans of care in a timely fashion. The staff and clinicians in the department work hard to make this happen. When you have a concern or medical issue, we are there to help you through it and will keep you informed and involved in all aspects of the decision-making process. I am thrilled that the hospital and all of our team members support this philosophy and work to make it a reality for each of our members.
How I thrive
I enjoy the work that I do, but it can be stressful. I have the support of a great partner who encourages me to keep life well-balanced, and that helps a lot. I find that hiking and camping keep me grounded--getting out of town and enjoying the fresh air and beautiful greenery of Oregon is important. I also enjoy a lot of home projects that challenge the artistic side of my brain such as painting, sculpting, reading, writing, and watching fun movies. I like playing sports, bowling, and watching good games as well. Exercising daily is a plus, and traveling is a must. It keeps me curious and wanting to learn more.
