your doctor was amazing - I have never had such careful care, clear honest explanations and if I had a choice I would go back - (5 hour drive worth it) Thank you.

Having grown up in California, I attended college, medical school, and medical residency in Southern California. However, Portland is now my home, and I feel blessed to live in such a wonderful city since I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2003. Portland is the perfect place to raise my two daughters. No matter how many times I have seen the Columbia Gorge, the incredible shoreline of the rugged Oregon Coast, or a snow capped Mt. Hood, I will continue to be in awe of the beauty of our surroundings. However, if you ask me what the best part about living in Portland is...it's definitely the people, who are some of the friendliest folks in the world!

About my practice

It's a privilege to practicing physician at Kaiser Permanente. Currently, I have the honor of taking care of four generations of the same family, and that's what family medicine is all about. I also enjoy doing procedures, including some injections, and it has been a wonderful opportunity to teach medical residents from Oregon Health and Science University. I also have a half-time administrative role, where I am the primary care medical director for quality, service, and education. While this role does take me away from patient care, it does allow me to develop systems and programs to improve quality of care, as well as improve the knowledge base of our primary care medical group.

How I thrive

Being active and exercising has become more important to me than ever before. In March 2011, I underwent hip replacement surgery due to severe arthritis. Prior to surgery, I had to give up activities I enjoyed, such as hiking, skiing, tennis, and something as simple as playing tag with my children. I look forward to resuming these activities, and I've also learned to enjoy new hobbies that are easier on my joints, such as swimming and biking.
